Ensure ADA Compliance with Custom Cut Stencils

Businesses and government offices in the US are required to comply with The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to accommodate the needs of legally disabled people. Under the act, a business or a government agency must paint a federal law-compliant sign in parking lots, stadiums, aisles, and other similar spaces, indicating handicap-accessibility. These signs must use ADA-compliant accessibility and reusable stencils are one of the best methods for insuring compliance and clear visibility.

ADA-Compliant Stencils from Precision Cutting Service

Precision Cutting Service has helped hundreds of customers across the US produce ADA-compliant stencils to meet the needs of their accessibility clients, customers and patients. Whether you need a complex or routine design for your facility, we provide stencils in different sizes and materials and can accommodate both one-off and multiple orders.

We are well-versed with ADA regulations and keep up with the changes to ensure that our customers get only the most accurate sizes and symbols. We use state-of-the-art, computer-controlled waterjet cutting machines to ensure precision and accuracy for even the most intricate cuts and produce products with minimal material waste. With tolerances up to .003”, our cutting nozzles direct a very fine and highly pressurized stream of water to perfectly create the stencils you need. Our stencils do not require any secondary finishing, saving you both time and money. Some of the common materials that our customers request for their custom cut stencils include aluminum, plastic, vinyl, and rubber.

Standard ADA Compliance Regulations for Parking Lots
Standard rules for ADA compliance provide an estimate of the number of accessible parking spots according to the size of the parking lot. These rules also include instructions for dimensions. Accessible parking spaces must be at least 8 feet wide with an adjacent aisle measuring the same. A parking lot with fewer than 25 spaces should have at least one accessible parking space, and for lots with up to 1000 spaces, 2% of the total must be allocated for accessible spots. Additionally, at least one of every six accessible spaces needs to be van-accessible. The regulations also require parking to be located at the shortest acceptable route that offers the easiest access to the building entrance.

These parking spaces must be painted with the international wheelchair symbol indicating that they are “accessibility-only” spaces. Blue and white are the most common colors for painting handicap-accessible spaces. Some places, however, choose to use red, yellow, and green believing these colors are more compelling. Either way, the ultimate goal is to ensure that the pavement markings clearly indicate they are reserved for people with accessibility requirements.
