We can cut just about anything here at Precision Cutting Service, and we spend a lot of our time making dimensional custom cut aluminum signs.  Thanks to the speed and precision of water jet cutting, we can create virtually any custom aluminum sign imaginable, while delivering it at highly competitive prices compared to other types of cutting services.

Once a sign is cut, we often recommend that our customers allow us to powder coat their new sign, instead of having us just ship it them as “naked” aluminum.  Powder coating delivers substantial benefits to the end product and ensures the sign, with proper care, will last for years well into the future.

What Is Powder Coating?

Powder coating, developed in the 1960s, is a dry finishing process that adheres to a wide variety of metals, aluminum included.

The coating consists of a mixture of pigments, resins, curatives, and other protective ingredients that are ground into an extremely fine powder.  This powder is then sprayed onto a sign to be coated, using an electrostatic spray machine.  In short, the coating (powder) initially bonds to the sign through static electricity.  The coated sign is then baked in a finishing oven that permanently binds the very hard coating to the metal.

How Does Powder Coating Improve Custom Cut Aluminum Signs?

Durability

A powder-coated sign is extremely strong and resistant to the elements.  It is highly chip and UV ray resistant and can withstand typical storms and weathering with no damage or fading, potentially for decades.

Colors

Powder coating can be formulated to create any colors you like, in any combination.  A wide variety of finishes are available as well, even difficult-to-achieve effects such as glitter or an iridescent sheen.  This makes your sign far more unique and noticeable, and powder coating can even disguise, if that is the goal, the fact that the sign is made from cut aluminum.

Long-term ROI

The addition of powder coating to a signs increases its initial cost slightly, but it pays for itself many times over by minimizing wear and tear and the maintenance/replacement costs associated with it.
