OEM and OESParts
These parts are essentially the same and are typically referred to simply as OEM. They are original and designed specifically for the machine, piece of equipment or vehicle they serve. The difference is that OEM parts are produced by the product manufacturer—e.g., Ford, Caterpillar, or Great Neck—while OES parts are produced by an authorized sub-contractor or supplier, like Tenneco, BorgWarner or Goodyear. In short, company B, the OES sub-contractor working under a commissioned agreement, produces the original part for company A, the OEM Parts Manufacturer. Either way, the name of the company that produced the part and the part’s ID number are usually stamped on the part to facilitate reordering.
